I am Yours

A year today I was walking down the aisle to "I'm Yours" to which my cousins so graciously sung, we were standing on the sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic exchanging our vows of love, honour, fidelity and friendship. It was truly one of the best days of my life! We were surrounded by people we love and who love us. Two weeks of fun, laughter, relaxation and in the most perfect of settings.  Today I look back on that special moment in time, and truly feel so blessed to be married to someone who loves me for who I am and who has never once asked or wanted to change any part of me. I feel so incredibly lucky to share my life with him and can't imagine what a year from today will look like, so much has happened in a year and it has been a whirlwind but I wouldn't change a single part of it all, not one bit!!!!

Ancient Forrest, Ode to Earth Day

I had the pleasure of going to a place called the Ancient Forrest while visiting my home town. So amazing to see! It is the only known living rain forrest located 1000 km from an ocean! 2005 is when it was discovered and its hard to imagine it would have been logged and that would have been the end of it. There was still a lot of snow and made for a treacherous hike with baby on back but we made it.

These trees are estimated to be about 2000 years old, now thats a lot of rings to count.

My brother the tour guide and forrest guru.

The actual View from where we were standing, pretty close to the sign.

Finishing our day off with nature, oh hello there Moth on the spare tire.

SmAll Town BIG StylE

I grew up in a small town where designer home stores and stylish interiors were non existent and being creative from the lack of choices was inevitable. Fortunately for me, I also had two older cousins who had an appreciation for interior decorating, the arts, fashion, travel and design and who have influenced me greatly throughout my childhood, teens and really still to this day. I don't think too many 8 years watched Fashion File with their cousin in lieu of Saturday cartoons and loved it or as a teenager flipped through home magazines. They were the pillars in my life and still are. My love for design truly stems from them and for that I am very thankful. They still reside in this small dingy town and have made their homes into absolute treasures. Driving through this place, you would never guess what is hidden behind some of the doors; pleasant surprises but really no surprise to me.

Go Fly a Kite

No really, what better to do on a beautiful blue blazer day? Over an hour of kite flying, my fingers are so sore but worth every bit of cramping!

Pause Please

My little one keeps growing just way too fast, I know we say it all the time, "they grow so quickly" but it really is so. It seems like last month I was amazed at the six month mark and at the six month mark it felt like only weeks ago she was a newborn and now 8 months already. Well here she is having fun with me, rather she was more interested in the little doggy named Chico. Just when I think I can't possibly love this little person any more than I do; well I do.

Blue Gems on a Blue Day

Blue is actually my favorite color, ha, no surprise there especially if you come to my home. Here are some of my favorite blue things.

I adore robin's egg blue and when I was in university I stumbled across a tea set, not just any tea set but a vintage Poole tea set, circa 1950's in mint condition. It's a demitasse set with a small sugar bowl and a small creamer. Right away I pictured myself having tea parties with my one day daughter. Fortunately for me, it was a time when they still had lay-away. Months later it finally became mine and I have been collecting pieces ever since
Tea for two, one day soon!

Green eggs and no ham

I love, love, love Easter!! It is my favorite Holiday by far. All the spring flowers and those beautiful colors that come with Easter, the chocolate part isn't bad either!!! Cadbury Cream eggs, um I'll have a dozen please and thank-you.

Here are my decorated easter eggs that the little one was thoroughly intrigued by, I believe it was the blowing of the egg yolk out until my face was as red as a tomatoe. I swear it wasn't this hard when I was kid? The shrills and shrieks were a dead give away that she liked the scene.

Pretty in Pink

When we found out we were having a girl I fell in love with pink all over again. I found a Benjamin Moore paint called sweet taffy and thought it would be perfect for my little girl's room.

I feel so very fortunate to have a man willing to spend time snuggling our baby in a room so pink. He comes from a family of four boys so I am pretty darn sure he never pictured himself here.

When our baby was born we planted a pink magnolia tree and it is now blossoming, coincidently at the exact same time as the baby's teeth started to peek through
those pink fleshy gums.

April at its best

Ahhhh, I truly do love April and I try to fill my house with spring flowers. Here are some that currently reside in my home.
